粉彩瓷又叫“軟彩瓷”，是康熙晚期受琺琅彩瓷影響和啟發而出現的釉上彩瓷新品種，素有“始於康熙，精於雍正，盛於乾隆”之說，迄今已有300多年曆史。近年來，雍正粉彩瓷的市場行情一直居高不下，其中雍正官窯瓷器中的粉彩瓷有多件成交價格超過千萬元。

粉彩瓷之所以為藏家青睞，主要憑藉其獨有的“玻璃白”。所謂“玻璃白”是指不透明的白色乳濁劑，其製作工藝是在燒成的白瓷上勾勒出紋飾圖案的輪廓，在輪廓內先用含有氧化矽、氧化砷和氧化鉛的“玻璃白”打底，然後按所需顏色在上面繪畫渲染，再次入窯烘燒而成。利用其乳濁作用，可以讓所繪人物、花鳥、山水等畫面粉潤柔和、生動逼真、帶有立體感較強的國畫風格。
